Lyle “Swede” Elmer Spray 81 of Wapella, IL passed away 5:54 AM May 22, 2016 at his family residence, Wapella, IL.

Visitation will be 5 – 7 P.M. Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.

Memorials may be directed to Lung Cancer Research Foundation.

Swede was born January 20, 1935 in Wapella, IL the son of Lyle Raymond and Ethel Mae (Underwood) Spray. He married Joyce Probasco in 1960 in Wapella, IL.

Survivors include his wife: Joyce Spray, Wapella, IL; children: Terry (Lisa) Spray, Atlanta, IL, Mary Catherine Spray, Wapella, IL, Penny Lynn (Ronald) Russell, Lucasville, OH; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, brother: George Spray, Texas and sister: Gladys Armour, Wapella, IL.

He was preceded in death by his Parents and 1 Brother.

Swede served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Local #362 Laborer’s Union in Bloomington, IL. He enjoyed NASCAR and old cars, especially Fords.
