Donald Rousey

Donald Lee Rousey, 84, of Heyworth, passed away at 5:15 p.m. April 20, 2016, at his home.

 

Cremation has been accorded. His inurnment will be at a later date in Funks Grove Cemetery, Funks Grove. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home, Bloomington, is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

He was born June 23, 1931, in Bloomington, a son of Vernon G. and Elizabeth Phoman Rousey. He married Nelva L. Anderson on Oct. 24, 1964, in Wapella. She preceded him in death in 2015.

 

Surviving are a son, Joey Rousey; stepson, Tom Anderson; six grandchildren, Michelle Doage, Veronica Smiley, Leisa Anderson, Greg Anderson, Emily Rousey and Linda Rousey; many great-grandchildren; three sisters, Myra Linden, Bessie Swearingen and Carol Sue Spring; and two brothers, Paul and David Rousey.

 

He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Lola Smiley; two brothers, Steven and Raymond; and a sister, Audrey Mae.

 

Don served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a private first class. He retired in 1989 after working several years as a union carpenter.
