Verna J. Brown 83 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 1:58 PM April 13, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Services will be 11 AM, Monday, April 18, 2016 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Il. with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating. Private family burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, Il. Visitation will be 4 – 6 PM, Sunday, April 17, 2016 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church, Clinton, IL or the Kenney Christian Church, Kenney, IL.

Verna was born September 7, 1932 in Fairbury, Il. the daughter of Lazern C. and Florence (Walker) Crydenwise. She married Richard L. Brown April 6, 1951 in Clinton, Il. He passed away January 8, 2009.

Survivors include her children, William D. (Martha) Brown, Clay City, IL; Roger (Linda) Brown, Tucson, AZ; Nancy (Paul) Wells, Mason City, Il.; 4 grandchildren, Clint Wells, Bill Brown, Kimberly Neideffer, and Rachel Patrick; 5 great-grandchildren, Kiersten, Katie, William, Dominick and Jose and one on the way; sister, Linda George, Medford, Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Verna was a member of the First Christian Church, Clinton where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She loved to garden.
