Loveta Borton

Loveta Ann Borton, 85, of DeLand, passed away 12:45 a.m. Thursday (March 31, 2016) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

 

 

A service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvert Funeral Home, DeLand, with the Rev. John Tennyson officiating. Burial will follow at DeLand Cemetery, DeLand. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

 

Memorials may be directed to Deland Christian Church or Champaign County Humane Society.

 

Loveta was born Oct. 8, 1930, in Independence, Mo., the daughter of Ralph and Martha Morris Jasper. She married Lorin Karl Borton Jr. on June 3, 1950, in Winchester.

 

Survivors include her husband, Karl Borton, DeLand; children, Karla (Greg Stoklos) LeVeque, Tucson, Ariz.; Shelly (Jack) Weakly, Bloomington; Robin (John) Borton-Scott, Champaign; and Thomas (Kelly) Borton, Gibson City; six grandchildren, Joshua (Rachel) Weakly, Champaign; Chelsea Weakly, Bloomington; Haylee Weakly, Bloomington; Ashley (Scott) Zachry, Naperville; Austin Borton, Milwaukee, Wis.; and Blythe Borton, Gibson City; and one great-granddaughter, Audrey Weakly, Champaign.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, William Jasper.

 

Loveta was a member of the Deland Christian Church. She enjoyed bridge club and riding horses, and had an extreme love of animals. Loveta participated in Meals on Wheels, as well as served on numerous boards in DeLand and Piatt County. She was the best cook and her family was most important to her. Loveta especially loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending holidays and birthdays with them.
