Edward King Jr.

Edward R. “Ed” King Jr., 90, of Heyworth, died at 1:40 p.m. Monday (March 7, 2016) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

 

There will be no service for Edward. Cremation rites have been accorded. Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, is handling the arrangements.

 

 

He was born Jan. 8, 1926, in Heyworth, to Edward and Minnette Crookshank King. He is survived by his partner of many years, Lucy F. Beever, Ashkum; Lucy's children, Sue (Glen) Shafroth, Clifton, and Claudia (Bruce) Siebring, Ashkum; and Lucy's grandchildren, Kylee and James Shafroth, Jill (Michael) Tores and Justin Yohnka. He is also survived by lifelong friends, Greg and LeAnn Anderson and Larry and LeAnn Coleman.

 

Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked more than 35 years for Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Peoria and retired in 1981. He was a member of the American Legion in Bloomington and the Masonic Lodge. Ed was also a proud member of the National Rifle Association and a 60-year member of the Kankakee Gun Club, as well as a proud member of the Republican Party.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Rifle Association.
