Lucille Estella Mohr Rolofson

Lucille Estella Mohr Rolofson passed from this mortal life to her eternal home on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 9:30 AM.  She was 99 years, 7 months, and 5 days old.

 

Lucille was born on July 22, 1916 on a grain and dairy farm outside Normal, IL the daughter of Elmer and Stella Engel Mohr.  She married Loren F. (Lefty) Rolofson on October 20, 1940 at East White Oak Bible Church.  He died January 18, 2005 ending 64 years of marriage that took them from Bloomington to Decatur finally settling in Clinton where he owned and operated Rolofson’s Body Shop.

 

Lucille was a homemaker, hair dresser, and cook for Lincoln School of the Clinton School District.  She basically taught herself to play the piano and used her talent at the piano/organ for over 50 years at First Baptist Church in Clinton.  Over the course of her many years at the church she entertained many missionaries, evangelists, special speakers and new members.  Her love of missions made her instrumental in organizing the Ladies Missionary Circle.

 

Survivors include two daughters, Saundra (Hank) Klinger, Bartlett, IL and Janet (Tom) Trigg of Monticello, IL; two granddaughters, Amy (Jay) Langfelder, Bartlett, IL and Mindy (Jeff) Duez, Peoria, IL; three great-grandchildren, Grace and Tommy Duez and Mya Langfelder; sister-in-law, Vera Mohr, Bloomington, IL and several nieces and nephews in McLean County and Michigan.  She will be missed by her church family, friends and staff at Liberty Village Nursing Home where she was known as “Lucy the Candy Lady”, and her special nursing home roommate, Erma Spencer.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters and many friends from her church family.

 

Visitation will be at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL Friday, March 4, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour before a special service of thanksgiving and worship to honor her at 10:00 AM March 5, 2016 at First Baptist Church, 220 Illini Drive, Clinton, IL with Pastor John Roberson officiating.  Burial will be in DeLand Cemetery, DeLand, IL.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Missionary fund at her church or the donor’s choice.
