Mary Kathryn Freese

Mary Kathryn Freese 88 of Monticello, IL formerly of rural Seymour, IL passed away 10:51 AM February 12, 2016 at Villas of Hollybrook, Monticello, IL.

Services will be 11:30 AM, Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Mahomet United Methodist Church, Mahomet, IL with Rev. John McIntosh officiating. A luncheon will follow the services at the church. Private graveside services will be at Weldon Cemetery, Weldon, Il. preceding the services at the church. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the Mahomet United Methodist Church, Mahomet, IL. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the Friends of Carle Hospice or the Mahomet United Methodist Church.

Mary Kathryn was born November 8, 1927, in Weldon, IL the daughter of Roy Ottis and Minnie M. (Marsh) Twist. She married John E. Freese March 13, 1949 in Weldon, IL. He passed away August 26, 2014.

Survivors include her children, Kathryn Kay (Richard) Chase, University City, MO., John David (Marj) Freese, Washington, IL, Karen Sue (Gary) Cervak, Crown Point, IN., Dennis Ray (Karen) Freese, Hammond, IL, 9 Grandchildren, 1 Great-Grandson, Brother, Rob Roy (Barbara) Twist, Clinton, Il.,

Mary Kathryn was preceded in death by her Parents, 2 Brothers and 1 Sister.

Mary Kathryn graduated in 1948 from the Mennonite School of Nursing and served in the Wartime Cadet Nursing Corps. She later worked at the Dr. John Warner Hospital in Clinton, IL for 14 years as a Registered Nurse. Mary Kathryn was a member of the Mahomet American Legion Auxiliary and the Champaign County Home Extension Club. She was very active in 4-H activities and the Mahomet United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed ballroom dancing, golfing, gardening and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
