James L. Craney of Bement

James L. Craney, 64 of Bement, IL., passed away at 3:30 P.M., on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at the Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

 

Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 12 Noon, on Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Roux – Hinds Funeral Home, 348 N. Piatt St., Bement. A short service will follow the visitation on Monday with memories shared by Pat Tieman, followed by military services by the Albert Parker American Legion Post #620. Burial will be at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the Craney family for medical and funeral expenses.

 

Jim was born on May 3, 1949 in Washington, IN. a son of Odis and Wilma Dougherty Craney. He married Linda Schalliol on April 25, 1970 in Washington, IN. and she survives of Bement, IL. Surviving children include; Meredith (Chad) Roach of New Bern, N.C., Neil Craney and Dana Cole of Bloomington, IN., and Reid Craney of Omaha, Neb., as well as 2 grandchildren; Ashlynn Elizabeth Roach and Haedon Easton Roach both of New Bern, N.C., Also surviving is his sister; Linda Thompson of Madison, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Craney served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, and was a Bio Engineer from the Rose Hulman Institute of Technology, he was a member of the White House Communications, and Lion’s Club of Indiana.
