Eleanor H. Pistorious of Lincoln

Eleanor H. Pistorius, 90, Decatur, passed away at 4:55 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 16, 2014) in her residence.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Chapel United Methodist Church, Boody. Memorials may be made to Zion Chapel United Methodist Church. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes, Decatur, are assisting the family.

Eleanor was born Oct. 1, 1923, in Lincoln, the daughter of Walter V. and Hilda Klemm Horn. She married Kenneth R. Kemmerer in 1946 in Lincoln. He preceded her in death. She later married Neil Pistorius on June 11, 1995, in Boody.

Eleanor was a member of Zion Chapel United Methodist Church, Decatur Quilt Society and Order of the Eastern Star. She volunteered at Decatur Memorial Hospital and the Red Cross.

Eleanor’s teaching career started in Edinburg. She was a home extensions adviser for three years in Clinton and then a schoolteacher at Warrensburg-Latham High School for 29 years.

Eleanor is survived by her husband, Neil, Decatur; son, Scott D. Kemmerer, Tamms; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Jeri Crittenden, Monterey, Calif., and Debra Kemmerer, Springfield; and stepdaughters, Kaye (Albert) Winterbauer, Chesterfield, Mo.; Nancy Pistorius, Albuquerque, N.M.; and Marie (Jim) Kelley, Mount Olive, N.C.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; sons, David R. Kemmerer and Allen K. Kemmerer; and sister, Marjorie Dale.
