Sue Brown of Maroa

Sue Brown, Maroa, IL, was born May 15, 1938 and passed away December 14, 2013 after a long illness. Sue was born to John T. and Janie Harris and raised in Albertville, Alabama. She met Bill Brown while he was in the Army and stationed in Ft. McClelland, Alabama, and they were married in Aniston, Alabama on October 5, 1957. To this union were born three sons, Alan, Gary, and Bryant. Bill and Sue moved to Maroa, IL in 1960. They raised their family in Maroa where Sue, who was a gifted artist, excelled in painting portraits, scenic views on cross cut saws, and specialty requests. Many friends and neighbors in Maroa have Sue’s paintings hanging in their homes, a reminder of a talented and gifted life-long friend. Sue loved garage sales, flowers and decorating for each season.

Sue is survived by her husband, Bill, a son, Alan, Alan’s wife, Valarie, and their sons Wyatt and Garret Brown, a son, Bryant Brown and his daughter, Sherrie, a grandson, Dane Brown and his daughters, Veronica and Gabby Brown, extended family, and a host of friends. Sue was proceeded in death by her parents, one brother, two sisters, and her son, Gary Brown.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013 at Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa, IL with Pastor Nic Showalter officiating. Burial will follow at Maroa Cemetery, Maroa, IL. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM at Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa, IL.
