John M. Zelhart of Warrensburg

John M. Zelhart, 89, Warrensburg, IL, passed away at 3:35 PM Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 at Manor Court, Clinton, IL. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 at Maroa United Methodist Church, Maroa, IL with Pastor Nic Showalter officiating. Burial will follow at Maroa Cemetery. Visitation will Saturday morning from 9-11 AM at the church. Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the Maroa United Methodist Church or the Salvation Army.

John was born in a farm house in rural Atlanta, Logan County, IL on June 14, 1924, the son of Walter H. and Nellie B. (Carlton) Zelhart. He married Imogene F. Worner on Sept. 3, 1955 in Green Valley, IL.

Survivors include his wife, Imogene F. Zelhart of Warrensburg, IL; sons, John A. (Jill) Zelhart, David E. (Cindie) Zelhart and James D. (Andrea) Zelhart all of Maroa, IL and 6 grandchildren: Corey (Emily) Zelhart of Warrensburg, IL; Ryan Zelhart of Maroa, IL; Matthew Zelhart of New Orleans, LA; Marie K. Zelhart of West Lafayette, IN; Jordan Zelhart and Brandon Zelhart both of Nasville, TN.

John was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Paul.

John was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Maroa United Methodist Church and the Macon County Farm Bureau. He was especially proud to be an Austin Twp resident. John also had served on numerous boards and committees.
