Mary Rose Ann Sampson of Lincoln

Mary Rose Ann Sampson, 72, Lincoln, died Sunday (July 7, 2013) at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln.

Her memorial service will be at 6 p.m. today at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home, Lincoln, where visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the time of the service. There will be no burial. Mary’s wish was to be cremated. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Mary was born June 28, 1941, in Lincoln, the daughter of Sweeter C. and Inez Pauline (Littrell) Wiggers. She married Lawrence “Larry” Sampson on July 28, 1961, in Atlanta.

Surviving are her husband, Larry Sampson, Lincoln; children, Valerie (Gary) Sanborn, Lincoln; Carol (David) McEvoy, Athens; and Robin (Denise) Sampson and their three children, Cleveland, Tenn.; grandchildren, Carson Nichols, Brock and Blake McEvoy; great-grandchildren, Conner and Emma Nichols; and sister, Cathie (Ron) Nichols, Pleasant Shade, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Judy Bartlett.

Mary was a member of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary; she was an accomplished seamstress and baker. At one time, she sold Celebrity Jewelry. She loved to read, work crossword puzzles and word find and loved to go to the riverboat and gamble. She was employed at H&R Block in Lincoln for many years.
