Shirley Jean Schriber, 71, Clinton, passed from this earth at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday (May 28, 2013)  while at home surrounded by her family.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Long Point Cemetery, Wapella. Brother Richard Owens will officiate. There will be a private family visitation. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, is entrusted with arrangements.

Shirley was born in a little house on East Woodlawn Street in Clinton on Nov. 24, 1941, to John W. Day and Leona F. Mearida. She married Michael D. Schriber on Aug. 24, 1959, in Monticello. He survives.

Also surviving are her mother, Leona Fern Day, Clinton; children, Carolyn (Roy) Trout, Mike Schriber Jr. and Ashley Spriggs, all of Clinton; two great-grandchildren, Abbygail and Vance; and brother, Donald Day, Clinton.

She was preceded in death by her youngest child, Christy; her father, John; and sister, Carolyn Woodard.

Shirley spent most of her life as a homemaker, caring for her husband, children and whatever dog they happened to have at the time.
