Lynn P. Franklin, 71, of Farmer City passed away Wednesday April, 24, 2013 at 8:50 am at Presence Covenant Medical Center Urbana, IL. Visitation will be Saturday April 27, 2013 from 10-12:00 pm at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home Farmer City. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery Champaign, IL. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital as Lynn was thankful to have a grandson that is a Leukemia survivor.

Lynn was born Oct. 25, 1941 a son of Paul & Elsie (Tarter) Franklin in Bloomington, IL. He married Mary Jane Franklin (Cox) on March 13, 1973 and enjoyed 40 years together. She survives

Surviving are three sons Greg (Laurie) Franklin – Farmer City, Chris (Kelly) Franklin – Farmer City, and Donnie (Laura) Clark – Bloomington; Ten grandchildren; Twin Brother Leslie Franklin – Champaign; Two Sisters Ranella Wills – Bloomington & Elaine Duffner – Jonesboro, AR; several brothers and sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Lynn began farming with his father in 1965 and farmed for 45 years before retiring. He enjoyed flying and was once an amateur airplane pilot. He was a member of the Weedman United Methodist Church, Farmer City Fairboard Association, NRA, American Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. His hobbies included trap shooting and he was considered an expert marksman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, NASCAR, and playing cards.

Lynn was a devoted husband, loving father and friend to everyone he knew. Lynn will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
