James Donald Moreland of Argenta

James Donald Moreland, 85, of Argenta died 5:47 p.m. Monday (March 25, 2013) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Services will be noon Saturday in Calvert Funeral Home, Argenta, with the Rev. Kevin Treptow officiating. Visitation will be two hours before services. James was born Oct. 23, 1927, in Hillsboro, the son of Melvin and Mabel Irene Curry Moreland. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. He was a member of Argenta United Methodist Church. He retired from Phillips Pipeline after 29 years of service. After his retirement, he was a part-time realtor and held several other part-time jobs. He was an avid fisherman. He married Dorothy Irene Sanders on Aug. 6, 1950, in Hillsboro.

Surviving are his wife; children, David (Mary) Moreland of Chatham; Karon Moreland (Neal Primm) of Colmesneil, Texas; Sharon (Denny) Moore of Latham; Suzie (Mike) Bruels of Charleston; brothers and sisters, Betty Adden of Nokomis; Bill (Nancy) Moreland of Copperas Cove, Texas; Jerry (Donna) Moreland of Taylorville; sisters-in-law, Pat Moreland of Taylorville; Kathleen Moreland of Oklahoma; Lois Moreland of Florissant, Mo.; brother-in-law, Melvert Cordani of Pana; five grandchildren; one stepgrandson; two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren; brothers, Carl, Richard “Bud,” and Jack; sisters: Lavell and Mable.
