Thomas F. Cooper of Clinton

Thomas F. Cooper, 84, Clinton, died at 4:24 p.m. Tuesday (March 19, 2013) at Dr. John Warner Hospital, Clinton.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, Clinton, with J. Kent Hickerson officiating. Burial will be at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wapella. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to First Christian Church, Clinton.

He was born May 11, 1928, in Decatur, a son of Roy Cooper and Margaret (Johnson) Cooper. He married Della M. Bray on Feb. 19, 1950, in Wapella.

He is survived by his wife, Della M. Cooper, Clinton; children, Debra (Randy) Waks, Deane E. Cooper, Donna L. (Rich) Parker, Tom D. (Connie) Cooper and John A. (Marcia) Cooper, all of Clinton; nine grandchildren, Ryan Holt, Drew Duggins, Nick Massey, Ashton Duggins, Tyler Baker, Cassie Baker, Colton Cooper, Wyatt Cooper and Conor Cooper; half sisters, Sandy Priola, Naples, Fla., and Joanne (Grant) DeYoung, Sunset Beach, N.C.; half brother, Leroy (Joyce) Reif, Ocala, Fla.; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Crystal Massey; and one great-granddaughter, Sydney Holt.

He was a member of First Christian Church, Clinton. Tom farmed all of his life. He was director and later an associate director for the DeWitt County Soil Conservation Office and DeWitt County Farm Bureau.

His family and farming were his life and he will be missed greatly.
