Twila Jean Tompkins, 85, Batesburg-Leesville, S.C., formerly of Lane, died at 7:02 a.m. Friday (Feb. 15, 2013) at Generations, Batesburg-Leesville, S.C.

Her funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with J. Kent Hickerson officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.

She was born Nov. 17, 1927, in Argenta, daughter of Pete and Ada Smith. She married Otsie E. Tompkins on Oct. 7, 1943, in St. Louis, Mo. He passed away Nov. 25, 2000.  

She is survived by her son, Roger (Janice) Tompkins, Winnsboro, S.C., and one brother.   

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Larry Tompkins.

She was affiliated with the Church of God. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
