Ruby E. Hendrix of Monticello

Ruby E. Hendrix, 93, of Monticello, passed away at 5:43 p.m., January 29, 2013 at Carle Hospital, Urbana.

Ruby was born on August 29, 1919 in La Place, IL, the daughter of Irl Chester and Bernice Madeline (Duncan) Robinson. She married Bernard L. “Beanie” Hendrix on April 18, 1942 in St. Louis, MO. He passed away August 13, 1987.

Survivors include her sons; Terry (Connie) Hendrix of Monticello and Dennis (Mary) Hendrix of Shelbyville, 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, a sister; Mildred Bohlen of Decatur, and faithful and loving care giver; Bert Hite. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother (Harold Robinson).

Ruby worked as secretary for Illinois Power and Caterpillar. She was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church, Monticello United Methodist Women, Piatt County Home Extension for 60 years, Piatt County Farm Bureau, Haneline Club, and Kirby Hospital Auxiliary. Along with being a wonderful homemaker, outstanding cook, and volunteer, she enjoyed crafts, gardening, and was an Illini basketball fan.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, February 4, 2013, at the Monticello United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Courtright officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:30 a.m., Monday, February 4, 2013 at the Monticello United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Monticello Township Cemetery. Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello is handling the arrangements.
