Darwin Dob Howry of Clinton

Darwin “Dob” Howry, 99, of Clinton died at 8 p.m. Friday (June 29, 2012) at his family home in Clinton.

A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Monday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. The family requests casual attire. David Stephenson and J. Kent Hickerson will officiate. Cremation rites were accorded. Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday at Calvert Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Little Galilee Christian Assembly, Weldon Springs Foundation or a memorial of the donor’s choice.

He was born March 30, 1913, in Graham, Texas, to Rufus Jackson Howry and Kate Paschal Howry. He married Jean Jandrew on March 25, 1956, in Vernal, Utah.

Surviving are his wife, Jean Howry, Clinton; children, Kelly (Debbie) Howry, Clinton; Karen (Stuart) Campbell, Cary, N.C.; Kay (Tim) Bostwick, Hendersonville, Tenn.; Koni (Ken) Lovett, Clinton; 12 grandchildren, Travis, Kelsey, Allie, Jordan, Connor, Spencer, Tyler, Taysha, Tanner, Reese, Sadie and Betsy; and one great-grandchild, Maddox.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jesse Howry; and one sister, Lucille “Boots” Hart.

Dob was the superintendent of the oil fields northeast of Wapella from its beginning in 1962. He retired in 1984 at age 71.

He enjoyed camping, traveling and being with his family and recently danced at his 99th birthday surrounded by his entire family and friends.
