Richard W. Harper of White Heath

Richard W. “Rick” Harper, 58, of White Heath, passed away at 12:54 a.m., August 3, 2013 at the Presence Covenant Hospital, Urbana.

Rick was born on October 29, 1954 in Champaign IL, the son of Richard A. “Dick” and Judith A. “Judy” (Bruhn) Harper.

Surviving are his brother; Steve (Lori) Harper of White Heath, sisters; Deb (Greg) Valentine and Beth (Matt) Bennett both of Monticello, and he was a uncle and great uncle to several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Rick worked as a railroad conductor. He was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church, the Model Railroad, NARCOA, Royal Neighbors, and the Monticello Railway Museum. Rick enjoyed bus trips, time spent vacationing, fishing, and boating in Northern Wisconsin and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packers fan. Rick shared a special love for Morgan and his cat “Kit”.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday August 8, 2013 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. A graveside service will be held in Ingram Cemetery at 10:30 a.m., Friday August 9, 2013.

Memorials may be made to the Monticello Railway Museum.
