Ruby M. Parks of Lincoln

Ruby M. Parks, 91, of Lincoln, formerly of rural Atlanta, passed away at 5 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 1, 2012) at St. Clara’s Manor, Lincoln.

The funeral for Mrs. Parks will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Quiram Peasley Funeral Home, Atlanta, with Mr. Tim Searby officiating. Vistation will be for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.

Memorials may be made to the Atlanta Rescue Squad.

Ruby Madeline Bloemker was born Dec. 16, 1920, in Dieterich, the daughter of Walter and Blanche Poynter Bloemker. She married Andrew J. Parks on Feb. 16, 1937, in Effingham. He preceded her in death in 1993.

Surviving Ruby are her children, Thressia (Norman K.) Usherwood, Atlanta; Rita (Edwin) Carey, Newburgh, Ind.; and Tom (Ada) Parks, Atlanta; two sisters, Bertha Leesman, Lincoln, and Bessie Budde, Dieterich; 12 grandchildren, K. Bradley Usherwood, Ronald J. Usherwood, Douglas W. Usherwood, Edwin Carey, Sean Carey, Shane Carey, Joel Carey, Anne Carey, Todd Parks, Christine Cleeton, Rick W. Wilson and J. Rob Wilson;  31 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and three sisters.

Ruby retired from Bartman Nursing Home in rural Atlanta.
