John Harold Francis Weaver of Clinton

John Harold Francis Weaver, 57, Clinton, passed away at 7:37 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 11, 2013) at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur.

His memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Life Builders Church of God, Decatur, with the Rev. Tim Lusitana officiating. There will be no visitation. The family has entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with cremation rites. Memorials may be made to United Way or American Cancer Society.

John was born Aug. 27, 1955, in Flushing, N.Y., the son of Lawrence Owen and Mary Patricia Mahr Weaver. He graduated from Voorheesville High School in 1973. He entered the Navy in 1973, and served until 1982. He married Donna Robin Chandler on March 24, 1979. She survives.

John is also survived by two brothers, Larry Weaver and Patrick Weaver, both of New York; one sister, Cathy Cohen, Connecticut; two sons, Sean Eric (Brenda) Weaver, Decatur, and Mark William (Amanda) Weaver, Springfield, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Ayden Harold Weaver and Eliseva Jo-Anne Weaver.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harold.

John spent his working career at the Clinton Power Station from May 1982 to August 2013. He was avidly involved in the community through coaching his sons’ YMCA soccer and basketball teams. He also served as a scout leader for troops in Clinton and Farmer City. He was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 51 and American Legion Post, Farmer City.
