Helen Elizabeth Clark of Monticello

Helen Elizabeth Clark, 96, of Monticello, passed away at 7:42 a.m., April 11, 2013 at the Kirby Medical Center, Monticello.

Helen was born on November 26, 1916 in Bondville, IL, the daughter of Lawrence B. and Stella (Jones) Mulligan. She married Kenneth Clark on February 26, 1938 in Seymour, IL. He passed away in 1963.

Survivors include 32 nieces and nephews, 48 great nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law, Blume Mulligan of Champaign. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers (Bob and John William) and 2 sisters (Marie and Margaret).

Helen farmed in Champaign Township for 25 years and then moved to Dania, FL where she owned and operated Blossom Basket Flower Shop for 20 years. Helen was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church and the Kirby Medical Center Auxiliary. She was a volunteer at Lincoln School, known as “Grandma” for 11 years. She attended schools at St. Boniface Boarding School, Bondville Grade School, and Champaign High School. Helen moved to Tatman Village in 2007.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the St. Philomena Catholic Church 1301 N. Market St. Monticello with Fr. Bruce Lopez officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, April 15, 2013 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with a Rosary service at 4:45 PM. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Champaign.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Philomena Catholic Church or Tatman Village.
