Miriam Billie O. Bock of Lincoln

Miriam “Billie” O. Bock, 91, Lincoln, passed away Sunday (April 15, 2012) at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1409 Pulaski St., Lincoln, with the Rev. Andrew Nyren and Chaplain Ryan Edgecombe of the Christian Village officiating. Burial will follow at New Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church.  Arrangements are by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.

Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lincoln, Luther Seminary or Dubuque Seminary.

Billie was born Dec. 18, 1920, in Lincoln, a daughter of William C. and Emma Von Drehle Otte. She married Adam F. Bock on June 10, 1940, in Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Henry (Henrietta) Otte and Armin (Virginia) Otte; and four sisters, Bertha (Paul) Dahmm, Emma (William) Bock, Tryphena (Julius) Aper and Esther Otte.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years and many nieces and nephews and special friends, Charles and Mary Jane Anderson. She was the last of her immediate family.

She was a graduate of Lincoln Community High School and of the Deaconess Hospital as a registered nurse. She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She worked four years at the Illiopolis Munitions Plant during World War II as the head nurse.

She enjoyed gardening, cultivating flowers and caring for her beloved cats. She loved to help people and was a friend to everyone. The family wishes to thank the caregivers for their special care to Billie over the years.
