Charles D. Schroth of Latham

Charles D. Schroth, 78, of Latham, IL died at 11:25 A.M. Sunday March 4, 2012 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Mr. Schroth was born March 9, 1933 at the Deaconess Hospital in Decatur to Irvin Earl and Wardie Roselda Coates Schroth. He married Mary K. Drabing on June 2, 1956 in Mt. Pulaski. She survives. He is also survived by seven children, Kathryn Jean Aughenbaugh of Chestnut, IL, Marcia Lynn (Carl) Harlow of Laurie, MO, Cheryl Ann (Robert Jr.) Shaw of London, OH, Douglas Charles Schroth of Riverton, IL, Rebecca Diane (Mark) Mullins of Bushnell, FL, Carol Susanne (Raymond) Way of Riverton, IL, and Bradley Dale Schroth of Bushnell, FL. He is also survived by three sisters, Norma Shehorn of Mt. Pulaski, IL, Carol (Larry) Alsup of Beason, IL, and Sonia (Paul) Heft of Kenney, IL, as well as twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Elizabeth Hawk, brother Dean Schroth, son in law Dennis Aughenbaugh, great granddaughter Jule Russo and great grandson Jacob Green. Charles was a retired farm laborer, a member and past Commander of the Sons of the American Legion Post #447 of Mt. Pulaski, a Mt. Pulaski and Chestnut baseball little league coach, he was the last surviving member of the Board of Directors who had the foresight and who purchased the ground for the Warrensburg Sportsman Club, Past President of the Chestnut Men's Club, and a diehard Chicago Cubs fan and never missed a game. There will be a celebration of life held from 4-8:00 P.M. on Friday March 9, 2012 at the Mt. Pulaski American Legion. Memorials may be made to the Charles Schroth family. Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski will be conducting services.
