Eugene McKinney, 97, of Clinton died at 2:09 p.m. Friday (July 26, 2013) at his family home in Clinton.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with J. Kent Hickerson officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton, with military honors at the gravesite. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton.

Memorials may be made to Clinton First Christian Church or Clinton Roque Park, Class of ’73.

Eugene was born Sept. 2, 1915, in Texas Township, DeWitt County, son of Robert N. and Emma Blasengame McKinney. He married Edna Azbill on Oct. 13, 1935, in Mount Vernon. She passed away Jan. 12, 2004.

Surviving are his daughter, Betty Armstrong, Clinton; son, Vince McKinney, Semi Valley, Calif.; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters, one grandson and one great-granddaughter.

He was a member of Clinton First Christian Church and a U.S. Army Airforce veteran.
