Johnny Lee Shankel, 61, rural Heyworth, died at 1:05 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 18, 2012). His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, with the Rev. Kurt Flora officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Carl E. Miller Post 624 American Legion, Heyworth. The family will greet friends at a luncheon at the New Horizon Christian Church, Heyworth, immediately following the funeral service. Cremation will follow the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Randolph Township Fire Department at Heyworth.
