Margie Lois Dowd Withers, 91, of Maroa died 11:30 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 22, 2013) in Manor Court, Clinton.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa, with the Rev. C. Don Ferrill officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services. Burial will be in Maroa Cemetery. Memorials: Weldon United Methodist Church. Send condolences: www.calvertmemorial.com.

Margie was born Nov. 18, 1921, in Lebanon, the daughter of George P. and Bessie Ohl Dowd. She married Edwin D. “Doc” Withers on Dec. 14, 1963, in Clinton. He preceded her in death Oct. 4, 2009. She enjoyed working on the farm with Doc, gardening, cooking, playing cards and taking walks with Dobie.

Surviving are her daughter, Roxie (John) Gaza of Oakley; grandsons, Shane (Michelle) Balding of Oakley; Shawn Balding of Argenta; great-granddaughter, Zandrea Balding of Argenta; brother, Frank (Ann) Dowd of Mattoon; sister, Sue Ann (David) Scronce of Weldon; special niece, Tammy (Linn) Summers of Maroa; and special nephew, Jeffery Dowd of Mattoon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
